Courion's Self-Service User Provisioning Solution Implemented by SunTrust Banks to Streamline User Administration; AccountCourier Helps Company Improv

Courion(R) Corporation, a leading provider of self-service identity management solutions, today announced SunTrust Banks has implemented automated role- and rule-based user provisioning with Courion's AccountCourier(R). Building on its implementation of Courion's automated password management solution, PasswordCourier(R), SunTrust Banks leveraged its self-service user profile creation to extend its identity management strategy to automated user provisioning. AccountCourier is able to provision accounts for new employees without requiring detailed technical knowledge. AccountCourier automatically discovers the required technical information, and through roles, business rules, and location, provisions users with the proper access. What's more, the immediacy of automated account disablement prevents any security loopholes associated with orphaned accounts.

"In a recent Burton Group survey, we identified that one of the keys to a successful user provisioning deployment is a solid alignment of business functions to user entitlements," Kevin Kampman, practice manager and senior consultant, Burton Group. "The investment in a proper definition exercise that results in a tight coupling of business roles and rules to the managed environment will insure that the specific objectives of the enterprise are addressed over the entire lifecycle of the provisioning endeavor. It also helps to model the solution to the culture of the organization, so that it becomes accepted as an integral component of business operations." "Courion has partnered closely with us to ensure a significant return on our investment," said Tim Callahan, vice president and manager, Enterprise Technology Risk Management, Project and Support Services, SunTrust Banks. "The solutions' ability to integrate with our infrastructure and ability to leverage roles and business rules are two key factors in our success. It has helped us improve service levels to those areas where we've implemented AccountCourier."

"Like so many organizations, SunTrust had many complicated provisioning processes," said Chris Sullivan, director of professional services, Courion. "Unlike many organizations, they did not wait for complex 'hard-to-do' infrastructure projects like management hierarchy and directory initiatives to be completed before they automated provisioning. By embracing Courion's methodology for leveraging what's available and automatically adapting to change, SunTrust was able to realize efficiencies while improving service to internal users."
