Living Life in a Straight Line

So often we are taught to believe how important it is to “chart a course,” “make a plan” and of course, we gain an extra “gold star” if we…”Stick with it!”

But, take a moment to look around. No matter if your life is based in faith or fact, science or the supernatural…What has NATURE created that starts at point “A” and proceeds in an unwavering linear path to points “B”, “C” and “D”?

Much like the rough imperfect surface of a boulder that sits precariously atop a high mountain peak or the tiniest pebble worn smooth by a winding river…Neither is perfect or unblemished. Instead, each embodies an abundance of irregular curves. Two remarkably different lives, yet neither has been created using a SINGLE straight line…

Often, I have found many of us try to fill our days with neatly planned agendas. The kids, the house, work, friends and just enough time for a little romance, or so we hope. Yet, when we deviate from this well intentioned path or when we speak out and walk the high-wire and challenge the status quo, what kinds of things do we hear?

• “Stop making waves!”
• “Why are you getting so bent out of shape?”
• What took you so long to get to the point?”

All full of curves, twists and turns! So the next time you feel the overwhelming desire to “walk the straight and narrow,” consider that the concept of living life in a straight line may not be the most effective way of reaching your goals and may not even be possible. And, just in case you are still not a “believer”….
• Real women have curves
• It’s the tree that bends in the wind that weathers the storm
• We once believed the world was flat…(Oops)

And… 1+1 = 2 only if YOU decide to embrace it! So make the rules and forgive the fools.
