The Making Of A More Desirable Personality
To make a good impression it is essential to be of good appearance. The importance in clothing should first and foremost to be of a tasteful and discreet, rather than “attention seeking”, obvious nature, and should be accompanied by meticulous grooming, like tidy hair, clean hands etc and the total should be complimented by suitable and matching accessories. To go with it develop clean and tidy habits to complete the whole of the outer personality.
With an immaculate appearance also belongs general good behavior. This applies to common courtesy, a graceful and appealing manner, and “doing the right thing” in all relationships and general social contacts including official business!
But no good impression is complete without it being part of a person of good character. Such is one which, for instance, does not talk badly about his or her friends and acquaintances, or divulge a secret one has been entrusted with because someone that cannot be trusted with what was passed on with confidence has no right to call himself a friend. Amongst expressions of character also belongs a sense of loyalty to a friend or a cause deserved of such! A neglect of which would also be a betrayal. Always be honest in preference in telling lies or “yarns”, as otherwise it is better to say little or nothing at all.
Apart from all that we are compelled to meet our moral obligation to society in general, which every member must observe as being a part of it, and therefore is obliged that law and order and moral standards are upheld. This in turn increases our standing as a desirable and upstanding citizen.
As a member of a community and as a pleasing personality, it is also ones obligation to be of help or assistance in case of an emergency or an accident to another member of the community. For instance call police or ambulance, depending on requirement, when you witness someone in trouble. Oblige with information when asked certain locations and directions etc. Do not resent such or similar assistance towards others – if for no other reason – but the enhancement of a “better self”.
Advancing "the making of the self” further, nothing is more commendable than adding to oneself the advantage of some self education through learning. This entails reading for better self expression and knowledge; an open mind to all things new and previously not known, making for better conversation and the impression of greater knowledge and intelligence. Remember the mind improves with input of knowledge and the exercise in the usage of the lessons learned.
