A Note from the Fringe Element

As a writer it is very curious to see how many people have apparently forgotten the power of the word. Our language is composed of words that illuminate our spirits, minds and bodies and yet with a five star menu of thousands of words to describe our human experience, we settle with fast food copy writing.

Is it our exposure to one another that has diminished our memory of times when a letter was as treasured as a kiss from a distant friend, spouse or member of our family? Have we forgotten how the words of our favorite song could make us feel?

I only ask because of our humanity; so much of it is within our literature and music, those words that inspire and enlighten us, or can make us weep and mourn. As a musician I hear the rhythm of these words and respect their power; they transform us. Has a song ever made you change your perspective?

And for those of us who declare we are for harmony in the world, perhaps we could all place a tad more emphasis on application of the principles that go along with the words through whatever means you use to earn your livelihood could energize our lives and increase the harmony.

Standing for a principle is more difficult than to fall for anything, but from what I have experienced to date, life is a lot more interesting when you standing tall than lying low. As you would say in one of our American dialects; "a lot of us are living on the down low". It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it.

As an artist I definitely see our humanity moving toward this realization and accepting the fact that there is a purpose for every part of our experience; even that part that we do not like. How else would we be able to know what we really like? Everybody doing the same thing is really not as interesting.

We human beings are a multi-faceted group, for each one of us an exact opposite personality is somewhere in the world, living their life as normal, just like you or I. And then too, we all have a "twin"- that person that we are told "you look just like..." makes one wonder if their personality is like yours as well: at least I consider this.

All of us have to eat, sleep, contribute and procreate in our own manner, space and time; where ever on the planet we find ourselves. There is such a wealth of ways to live our common human experience, this animated living, breathing body that transports our minds and spirits, can learn a new idea every day. Why exist when you can discover?

With all due respect to the Energy that keeps my heart working while I am having my sweet dreams, I know that whatever you call the Power of Creation, I am connected to you by our humanity and one love. Let this be said and let it be done.
